The brief
The site came with nothing more than the intention to open a food and drink business. Hospitality space is expensive, yet most concepts earn in only part of the day.
The decision
A café is strongest from breakfast to late afternoon and fades in the evening; a cocktail bar is quiet by day and busy after dark. Those two curves are complementary, so we built one business that changes mood, use and spend through the day: café by day, cocktail bar by night. The studio named it and created the concept and its positioning from scratch.
The work
The room had to feel approachable in daylight and warmer after dark without splitting into two identities. Patterned floors, marble tabletops, cane and timber, green banquettes and dark walls read as a comfortable café by day and a cocktail bar under low light.
What lasted
Years later, the venue is still described publicly as a café by day and a cocktail bar by night.
